There is still time! ETHICS 2022 If you have not completed your Ethics requirement for 2022, there is still time! The Institute for County Government (ICG) offers both an in-person workshop on November 29th and an online workshop until December 31st at 11:59 pm. During the 2013 Legislative Session, the Florida Legislature passed legislation which requires that Florida's Constitutional officers (which includes all County Commissioners, Clerks of Court, Property Appraisers, Sheriffs, Supervisors of Elections and Tax Collectors) must complete four hours of ethics training each year. Changes made to the ethics laws during the 2014 legislative session require Florida's elected municipal officers to also take four hours of ethics training each year. Newly elected Commissioners are NOT required by the Florida Statutes to take ethics this year BUT this is a great opportunity to learn about the ethics requirements at the beginning of this term in office and start earning those Certified County Commissioner (CCC) core credits. Don't delay - register today and complete your four hours of Ethics before December 31. Upcoming Opportunities: The last workshop of 2022 will be held in person prior to the Legislative Conference in Pinellas County on November 29th from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. This workshop will feature guest speakers Herb Thiele, Nabors, Giblin & Nickerson; Leon County; Kerrie Stillman, Florida Commission on Ethics; and Pat Gleason, Office of the Attorney General. Attendees will also receive 6 hours of CCC/CGE education core credits for their participation. Register for the in-person ethics workshop If you are unable to attend the last Ethics virtual workshop of 2022, ICG also offers an Ethics workshop online which may be completed on your schedule. Commissioners and staff who complete the online Ethics workshop will also receive 6 hours of CCC/CGE core credits for their participation. The online workshop is a series of three videos that you may watch at your leisure. All three videos must be viewed by December 31st to receive your Certificates of Completion for 2022. Register to view the online ethics workshop All attendees of ICG's Ethics workshops will receive Certificates of Completion for attending the entire workshop or completing the online workshop videos. These Certificates of Completion are also stored online in your FAC portal for future reference. Registration for the in-person or online workshop is $75.00. Should you have any questions, please contact Becky Berentsen, ICG Education Manager.
