What's Happening at the Harn April 15, 2024 HIGHLIGHTED EVENTS HESCAH Talk: Of Mothers, Wives, and Goddesses: Looking for women in the art of the Himalayas Thursday, April 18 6 pm Dr. Jinah Kim, George P. Bickford Professor of Indian and South Asian Art, Harvard University, will survey images of women in Buddhist and Hindu art of Nepal, Indian Himalayas and beyond. Art After Dark: Wine Down Thursday, April 25 5 – 9 pm Enjoy an evening of live music by local jazz band, The Smooth Operatives, light bites and drinks while exploring the galleries to round off your museum experience. In addition, UF students are invited to join us for a Final Recharge in the Bishop Study Center. Art & Mindfulness Saturday, April 27 10 – 11 am Take a break from your regular schedule to slow down, experience stillness and re-charge. Forty minutes of guided meditation is followed by an art spotlight tour.   EXHIBITIONS Gateway to Himalayan Art On View Through July 28 Gateway to Himalayan Art introduces the main forms, concepts, meanings and religious traditions of Himalayan art with objects from the collection of the Rubin Museum of Art, New York. HIMALAYAN ART   Windows and Mirrors: Staff Selections from the Photography Collection On View Through November 3 For the very first time, the Harn Museum of Art is presenting a staff-curated exhibition of works from the photography collection. Thirty-three staff members volunteered to select a favorite work from the collection and write about it from their own perspective. WINDOWS AND MIRRORS   Surrealism at the Harn On View Through June 2 Surrealism at the Harn marks the 100th anniversary of the Surrealist movement and presents selections from the Harn’s Modern and Contemporary collections. Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Kansas City, MO   The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art invites visitors to discover its collection of more than 42,000 artworks featuring ancient artifacts to contemporary creations. Since opening in 1933, the museum has expanded with the Bloch Building and Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. Thousands of photographs from the medium’s invention to the present are displayed in the Bloch Building, showcasing works acquired from the prestigious Hallmark Photographic Collection. The Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park centers around Shuttlecocks, the iconic four-piece installation by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen.
