Good Afternoon,
I have a few updates and a reminder for you. I learned yesterday that Bonnie Wagner will be leaving us. As you know, Bonnie has been an integral part of our team for over two years and moved here from South Florida. While I haven’t gotten to know Bonnie, as well as some of the other staff, I found her to be dedicated and intentional in her work for the Trust. Bonnie is a mother of young children and has decided that her work-life balance needs to be more aligned. She will be working for us part-time beginning

Dear Commissioners,
I am writing to express my frustration regarding the boring being done to
lay fiber optic cable in my neighborhood. I live at 938 SW 82nd Terrace,
Parkside housing development off of SW 8th.
In 2023, Blue Streak LLC, acting on behalf of ATT bored a hole that was a
direct hit on my sewer line, resulting in sewage backing up into my house.
I did not ask for this fiber optic cable and I am not an ATT subscriber.
Blue Streak eventually came out to fix the pipe but the landscaping was
never done correctly. I eventually

Good afternoon,

I have expressed my concerns with the apartment complex that I currently live in, Gardenview Villas, regarding our city lights not working. I have filed a report regarding the city lights on the City of Gainesville website. However, I would like to include you on my situation as a woman of color. I do not feel safe and I was dismissed when I told the property manager my concerns regarding my safety. She told me to “just call the cops next time.”

I have been attending the Citizen’s Academy and live in Haile. I have a direct interest in and am concerned about Tallahassee’s recent “gift” to UF of some 60 million dollars for what is known as the Hickory Sink or Lee Property project (4000+ acres) and how the tax-rolls are depleted by this gift. The last I heard UF was contemplating a private 36 hole golf course with 50 or so luxury “cabins” and a posh “club house" which would cost 50 to 100 thousand to “join”. That land and development would be untaxed and would serve no legimate “educational”

Floridians,

This week, I issued a Consumer Alert https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://myfloridacfo.com/news/pressreleases/press-release-details/2024/05/01/consumer-alert--cfo-jimmy-patronis--beware-of-the-pitfalls-of-solar-panels--added-insurance-costs__;!!KOmxaIYkRmNA0A!RNRnHQiBkEJpFJgIf3_-QuHDM974yZo4RJIO0T2hT3waoLQO1AJs6l2_9GofybTyooCoeaMzjCZl7-8lDA3btUpH67OnbOqfxSs5WRw$ warning Floridians of the potential increase in property insurance premiums and other pitfalls when purchasing solar panels and having them installed on the roof of their home or business. There are some serious red flags to these installations that consumers need to be leery of including impacts to insurance costs, pushy sales tactics, and cheaply made products imported from China.

Hello:

Paul (and Margo) Duncan here, long-time residents of Gainesville/Alachua County.
I previously directed this inquiry to my (District 1) Commissioner, but have received no reply, so now I'm sending the same query/concern to all Commissioners. I trust that least one
Commissioner, or perhaps a staff person will reply.

We live in District 1, in a small platted subdivision called Prairie Oaks. The neighborhood is on the east side of Williston Road, just 3 miles beyond the Gainesville Golf and Country Club, and Savannah Pointe, near rapidly filling developments such as Finley Woods. Our street address is 9735 SW 43rd

Good Afternoon Commissioner Cornell,

At the last BOCC meeting you expressed your desire to divest Alachua County
from arms manufacturers such as Lockheed Martin. We support this goal and
would like to see it voted on by the BOCC. Could you propose a resolution
to divest from arms manufacturers at the next BOCC meeting? Our group is
available to meet with you to discuss further.

Good afternoon,

I want to take a moment to thank those who attended this morning's City Commission meeting. Your leadership and collaboration are essential, as there is no individual way to confront the problem of gun violence. This is a communitywide effort. The work we do is critically important and we must do it together.

Dear Alachua County Commissioners,

We are writing to you to follow up from public comment on last Tuesday.

We understand that several commissioners expressed interest in
re-evaluating the county's investments, and that the suggestion was made to
discuss with the clerk about how to move forward.

JVP would like to request a meeting with the commissioners (and any other
staff that needs to be present) to move forward in divesting from Lockheed
Martin. Please let us know how to proceed from here.

Hi Ken,

With 34 Senate seats up for grabs in 2024, there’s going to be a lot to keep an eye on this November.

The May Plant of the Month is Southern Peas

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce that the May “Plant of the Month” is Southern peas.

Southern peas can be served in a variety of ways and provide lots of vitamins and nutrients. They are a major source of dietary fiber, an excellent source of Vitamin C, and a good source of potassium, niacin (B3), folate and beta carotene (which our body converts to Vitamin A).

Hello Ken, I need some advice on who I can contact to get some road fill
for the road in Rutledge on NW 63rd Street. This road
has gotten worse since the Tara St. Augustine apartments were built, This
road needs at least 10 18-20 yards loads.
Can the county provide road fill for us? I also need 10 loads in Jonesville
on 174th Street road.
I can be reached by cell phone (352) 870-2198 or at Santa Fe High School.

MPOAC_SDP_2016.pdf<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.mpoac.org/download/mpoac_materials/MPOAC_SDP_2016.pdf__;!!KOmxaIYkRmNA0A!SOYXU1d7rJzyjWIx5vHjWX9KwIY0dp05jOqoWLCvD05uVpE3DwlqMaPrA3Q52e_E80iCLzZZmC6wF8S0AhKbAGu3ILu4lOuWz7Vmow$ >

Since we ran short of time, it was agreed that we will schedule a virtual meeting in the coming weeks to continue our discussions on the revised Plan.

Members of the County Commission:

I'm writing to express my full support for the Released Reentry project
being considered today. I know the people running the program as colleagues
and co-workers, and I know them to be dedicated advocates with a wide range
of experience developing and delivering trauma-informed programs to
vulnerable people. Reentry projects are often difficult, working within one
system while simultaneously needing to shore up and respond to other
systems that make the process more challenging. In this environment,
ensuring that the people responding to recently released individuals have
lived expertise navigating the same systems becomes critically

The Strategic Highway Network (STRAHNET) and its subset, the Power Projection Platform (PPP), are the nation’s spine for connecting military installations to seaports and airports. Deficiencies in highways and bridges could impact the efficient flow of military deployments in times of need for national security. Unknown by many, the planning and

I am County Commissioner in North East Kentucky who has been communicating over the past few months with Synergy Sports Global-who were a part of your Sports & Event Center design and management-- that completed almost one year ago.

Myself, another commissioner, our County Judge Executive, as well as our Tourism Director, and two from our Economic Development team are flying to Gainesville on Monday morning (4/29) to tour the facility that afternoon and meet with Synergy to discuss what might become an extremely similar facility for us in North East Kentucky.

“G-d will save us from their hands/plans…” Shalom Ken - Alachua County Commission District 4, Someone sent a funny meme with two cartoonist Jews kvetching on their way out of Egypt. One of them says, "After waiting for this day for so many years, all they packed for lunch was these crackers?" The other replies, "I am telling you, they will talk about this for AGES!" These cartoonish Jews have a point - traditionally (or is it just a stereotype?), Jews tend to pack more food than necessary. And here, as the Torah tells us, over 2 million Israelites left
