As we enter the Festival of Liberation, we are once again reminded of the necessity to reaffirm our age-old, fervent prayer of “L'Shana Haba'a B'Yerushalyim - Next Year in Jerusalem! Passover has always meant Family First. And students are no different. They are Family. Tonight you’ll be sitting around the Seder table remembering and celebrating our rich and beautiful heritage. In spirit and deed, you will be united with millions of your brothers and sisters the world over. Let us utilize a few of these special moments to pray for Israel, reflect on all that unites us and bless each other with only the best, spiritually and materially, as we resolve to carry the powerful Passover lessons and spirit into practical ways, year round. At the Seder we read about the four children. We tend to think of the "one who does not know how to ask" as the one that needs the most help. However, the Lubavitcher Rebbe of righteous memory introduced us to a fifth child - the one that does not even show up to the Seder or may not even know it's Passover, or even if they are Jewish. It is many of those students that we hope to encourage to attend the Seder, so they can learn and experience the beauty and joys of Judaism, in addition to the many thousands more that find an open door at our Seder in a warm, family friendly atmosphere. As you mix your Charoset and prepare for your Seder, please take a moment and help us prepare for ours. Chabad at UF will host 1200+ students at the first Seder and provide services and over 3,500 kosher for Passover meals throughout the holiday.
