Dear Mayors and County leaders,

Yesterday, the Texas Supreme Court granted Attorney General Ken Paxton's request to block Harris County's guaranteed income pilot. This means that nearly 2,000 low-income families selected to participate in the pilot can no longer count on the $500/month to help pay their bills, and put food on the table.

MGI and CGI co-chairs just issued these letters to AG Paxton to highlight Harris County's efforts as part of a broader coalition that has proven that guaranteed income works. I am writing to you with the request to issue a letter in support of our colleagues at Harris County.

Please see the attached template letter to customize with your letterhead and signature along with any relevant context specific to your local work. You can send your letter along to MGI staff (cc'd here), or directly to the Attorney General.

The Texas Supreme Court will likely issue a decision in May, so expressing your support in the next week or so would be greatly appreciated. As always, thank you for your partnership.

Best,
Michael D. Tubbs
