Read More Since 2018, the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) has added an Innovation Day as part of its Fall Policy Conference. This event is held the day before FAC’s policy meetings and is an opportunity for the host county to showcase projects, programs, and services unique to its community. Over the past five years, the following counties have hosted an Innovation Day: Charlotte County; Bay County; Palm Beach County; Leon County; Miami-Dade County; and, Seminole County. Past intermarries from these counties are attached as a reference. For 2024, FAC’s Innovation Day will be held in Escambia County. For 2025, FAC is currently soliciting informal proposals from counties who are interested in hosting the FAC Innovation & Policy Conference. The purpose of this process is to provide a fair evaluation of all proposals using the suggested topics below. A committee of FAC’s Institute for County Government (ICG) will review all proposals and make a recommendation to FAC’s Executive Director.   To begin the application process for hosting the 2025 FAC Innovation & Policy Conference:   Send a letter of intent via email to Education Manager, Becky Berentsen ([log in to unmask]) Complete the attached proposal application with any supporting documents by May 15, 2024. Proposal Application The Florida Association of Counties and the Florida Sheriffs Association announce the 2024 Vehicle Graphics Contest for the Administrative Vehicles Category.   This award is to raise awareness about city, county, special districts, and government fleet programs who creatively represent and serve ALL Florida local governments.   Submit one photo with contact information and agency to [log in to unmask] no later than April 26, 2024. If it is has tires, tread, or is a whirly bird and represents your community, submit it!   Examples of creative local government administrative vehicles uses: crime prevention, awareness programs, community engagement vehicles, public safety, animal care/transport, transit buses/vans, honor guard, utility bucket trucks, refuse trucks, mosquito control, mobile community health vehicles, ice cream trucks. Contest Rules   Vehicles pictured do not have to be purchased through the FSA Cooperative Purchasing Program, but agencies participating in the contest must have purchased from the FSA Cooperative Purchasing Program within the last two years.   Entry photos will be added to the Florida Sheriffs Association’s Facebook page and votes will be cast using the "LIKE" feature. Contest voting begins Tuesday, April 30 and ends Wednesday May 8. Prize  The winner will receive a plaque, one hotel night at the Signia Hilton Bonnet Creek for the 2024 Florida Association of Counties Annual Conference & Educational Exposition, and a complimentary registration for the conference. The winner will be recognized at the Conference.   The 2024 Conference will take place June 25-28, 2024 at the Signia Hilton Bonnet Creek (Orange County). Winner can also brag until the 2025 Administrative Vehicle winner is selected. The Florida Local Government Finance Commission met on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Hillsborough County, Florida. This Commission oversees the commercial paper loan program, which has provided over $2.85 billion in loans to Florida’s local governments since 1991. FAC serves as administrator to the program.
