Gayle and I attended a fund raiser for Mary Alford last night and in questioning her we discovered that the Commissioners are as much in the dark as we are and are rightly concerned as well. By a legislative sleight of hand, UF now controls all of the money and apparently can do with it what they wish and with no concern about any thing Alatchua County thinks or says once signed by DeSantis. Thus, Tallahassee has removed over 4000 thousand acres from our tax roles and any public controlI over it. I urged her and the BOCC to find out details and share them with the public but I doubt that they will have any better luck than we have. Absolute power breeds absolute arrogance.
The Board of Trustees of the University of Florida includes the chair, Mordteza “Mori” Hosseini, David L. Brandon, Christopher T. Corr, DanielT. O’Keefe, a majority of the Board. Check the links and draw your own conclusions. I fear that previous public “disclosures” by the developers, UF and in a Commissioners meeting were nothing more than smokescreens to lull the public and the Commissioners into ignoring what is really about to happen.
