The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture program
for April 2024. This program is offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez-Jones, a commercial horticulture agent.
Beekeeping: Pest and Disease Management
– April 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the UF/IFAS Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory (1881 Natural Area Drive, Gainesville)
The workshop is designed to teach about the causes of honey bee colony losses, queen issues, and pest management,
with a special emphasis on Varroa Mites. Live bees will be used. Participants should wear protective clothing (closed-toe shoes, long sleeves, and a beekeeping suit if available).
The registration fee of $20.00 (plus a $3.18 Eventbrite fee) will include materials and refreshments. Participants
must register
online by April 24. A late fee of $10.00 (plus a $3.85 Eventbrite fee) will be applied for registrations after April 24 or if paying
at the door. The class is limited to 30 participants. There are no refunds for the registration fees.
