Dear Alachua County Employees:
As you may have heard, City Hall experienced a break-in last night. As a result, we have requested the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office to increase patrols of our facilities for the safety and security of our staff, citizens who visit our facilities, and our
buildings.
Please be alert when leaving secure “employee only” areas and ensure doors and windows are locked (as appropriate). Please do not keep valuable personal items in your office; the safest place for these items is at home. If you see something, say something;
contact 911 as needed or Chief of Staff, Gina Peebles (352-538-8265 or
[log in to unmask]),
for non-emergencies. Walk to the parking garage in groups when possible; there is safety in numbers.
While we have no reason to suspect a similar incident on County property, your safety is my utmost priority.
