Hello Board, I’m checking in to see if there has been any progress on this?

Good morning Commissioners, I hope you all had a nice holiday.

I'm reaching out today to find out if you can help me get a needs assessment done for the 301 corridor of Alachua County. Though the City of Hawthorne is the municipal hub for many of us, their responsibility doesn't extend into the 10 surrounding unincorporated communities.

Being generationally from the area, a graduate of the local school, and having "worked" at the Hawthorne Area Resource Center for almost 2 years, I can confidently say that the need in this region is overwhelming. The Resource Center makes almost 700 food distributions every month, many of them to seniors and disabled individuals. Having spoken to many of the recipients, it's obvious that the food insecurity is so extreme due to other resource insecurities.

I am asking for the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners' help in getting a full understanding of the need out here, so that it may be addressed. The need is urgent.

Sincerely,
Sherri Thomas Krienke
