Across the University of Florida, our 16 colleges, numerous institutes and health care facilities embrace our shared mission of outreach and service to improve and enrich our community, nation and the world. UF in the Community spotlights the impact of UF in our region.

Although UF has students and employees throughout the state, North Central Florida is home to much of our faculty and staff and to our 50,000+ students. Like all area residents, we want a vibrant, safe, healthy and equitable place in which to live and thrive. Here are some of the ways in which we are enhancing our shared community.​
NOTICE OF CAMPUS MASTER PLAN PUBLIC WORKSHOP 
The University of Florida will be reviewing the campus master plan that describes the projected growth for the University of Florida main campus and 13 Alachua County satellite properties for the next 10 years. (See maps below) This plan focuses on the areas of land use, transportation, housing, capital improvements, conservation, recreation, infrastructure, utilities, urban design and academic facilities.

A public workshop on the campus master plan will be held on Monday, November 23 at 6:00 PM via digital media technology.

The workshop is an informal information session with opportunity for questions and answers. Interested parties who cannot attend this workshop are invited to submit written comments to Linda Dixon, Director of Planning, at [log in to unmask] or P.O. Box 115050, Gainesville Florida 32611.

UF AI presentation to the recent Florida Chamber Foundation Future of Florida Forum
UF was recently featured at the Florida Chamber Foundation Future of Florida Forum to present on the launch of the artificial intelligence (AI) campus-wide initiative. The public-private partnership with NVIDIA that will catapult UF’s research strength to address some of the world’s most formidable challenges, create unprecedented access to AI training and tools for underrepresented communities, and build momentum for transforming the future of the workforce.
National effort to hasten treatments for those with pancreatic cancer enrolling patients at UF Health
A novel clinical trial platform that aims to accelerate treatment discoveries for people battling pancreatic cancer is now enrolling patients at 15 sites nationwide, including the University of Florida Health Cancer Center.

An initiative of the national nonprofit organization Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, or PanCAN, Precision PromiseSM began development in 2016. The UF Health Cancer Center is the only site in Florida participating in the novel clinical trial platform that hopes to ramp up treatments for patients with the aggressive form of cancer.
