This pledge states that a candidate or elected official will not take contributions over $200 from executives, lobbyists, and PACs affiliated with the hospital, insurance, and pharma corporations and instead pledge to put the health, well-being, and safety of their constituents over corporate health industry profits. 

We have a dysfunctional, wasteful, and cruel health care system. We spend more per capita on health care than any other nation with universal health care, and we often have only worse health outcomes as a result. 27 million people in this country are without health insurance. At least 44 million more are underinsured - they have insurance that they can’t afford to use due to astronomical co-pays, deductibles, and premiums. 

I strongly oppose the overwhelming influence of insurance and pharmaceutical industry corporate PACs, executives, and lobbyists on our political system, and I hope that all politicians, yourself included, will commit to standing with patients and communities, not corporate health care profiteers.
