Dear Alachua County Commission

I am writing to express my opinion regarding your proposed resolution to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The resolution as written suggests prejudices against Israel, insinuates that Israel targets civilians and falsely claims that Israel perpetrates violence against innocents (as opposed to Israel’s right and responsibility to protect its citizens and country after the worse attack against Jews since the Holocaust).

In addition, the resolution makes no mention of the following three vital points:
1) A call for the immediate release of all the hostages being held.

2) Condemnation of Hamas and their horrific, murderous attack in Israel on October 7 (when a ceasefire was already in place), including gender-based, violent sexual assaults and barbarism against innocents, both young and old from numerous nationalities.

3) That Hamas, a terrorist organization, should disarm and surrender.

I urge the commission not to pass and to reject this resolution.
