Mr. Gavarrete-

Mr. Vanyo was kind enough to return my call to Mr. Wood, as I left a message this morning concerning my road. While my neighbors and I are happy to have some improvements made to the road, the mishap with the dump truck, power lines,...nearly crushing my neighbor and his home, was unsettling.

As you can see from the photos, the material put down consists of many large, sharp lime rocks, which are hazardous to smaller vehicles...and pedestrians. Many cars have chosen to drive in then grass in front of my property, instead of staying on the rocky road, and I nearly twisted my ankle trying to walk my dog...she didn't care much for it either!

I realize the weather is slowing crews down, but a roller can be run in the rain, and the moisture would help soften the rocks and help it set. There is still much more material that is needed to restore this road to a functioning one, as it is still lower than the shoulders and has no crest. The grader was out Saturday morning, again, working with NO material, and again, cutting into the hard base, creating higher shoulders. Why was he not on a roller, fixing problems, rather than creating new ones???

Mr. Vanyo told me he has 5 people to handle all of Alachua County's roads. Is this true, or simply his district? Either way, this is a sorry state to be in. It is time for the County to hire, and pay sufficiently, competent people to maintain our roads.

All best-

Lisa
