I was surprised and disappointed to learn that the new building for the Animal Resources and Care facility might be built on land leased from UF in a horribly congested traffic area. Why would you build a County-owned building on leased land??? If the present site has wetland issues (and how much of the acreage has these issues?), have you considered other County-owned land? Do you REALLY need 12 or 13 acres? Why cannot 6 or 7 acres suffice? That is a lot of land, too.
Leasing land is throwing away taxpayer money and that is irresponsible.
Please think out of the box. Go back to the drawing board.
