Dear Ms. Lieberman,
Attached are multiple examples of illegal signage along the west side of US 441 between NW 43rd St. and the city of Alachua.
Most of these violations have been previously reported, but not enforced against.
It is my observation, and I’m sure yours, that illegal signs, banners, feather flags, dancing inflatables, and other violations of the sign code are proliferating throughout the county.
Most of my previous, specific complaints - that have included locations and photographs - have not been enforced against. I know this is not acceptable to you or the elected policy-makers who drafted our sign ordinance for very good reason.
Illegal signage is a visual blight on our community, damaging to the quality of life and a dangerous distraction for motorists. I’m sure you agree staff should proactively enforce the code against these readily visible violations. It should not require citizen complaints.
If you could, please find time to give me a call. Perhaps we could meet with appropriate staff to address this issue?
