My name is Alena Lawson Bennett and I am a long time resident of the City of Newberry. I am supportive of adding a referendum to the ballot to allow the citizens of Alachua County an opportunity to vote on eliminating single member districts.

There was a lot of deception and misinformation previously.

In addition, based on my residency, I am not allowed to vote this year for a commissioner. I strongly believe that all five commissioners should represent the residents of Alachua County and given the divisive climate in my City, I don’t trust the process that’s currently in effect.
