Hi Ms. Wheeler, 

My name is Gretchen Lee.  I live in Brookfield (32606) and my daughters attend Hidden Oak Elementary and Fort Clarke Middle School.

I’m sure you’ve heard about the horrible accident involving a small child being stuck by a car at the intersection of Fort Clarke Blvd and 23rd Ave this week.  I understand the car that was involved in the accident was speeding over 40 MPH in the school zone.

Yesterday, when I picked up my daughter from Hidden Oak Elementary, the crossing guard and I witnessed a local tree service truck speed through the intersection during school zone hours (while children were present) likely going over 40+ MPH as well.

I’ve VERY concerned about the safety of this busy intersection.  My 6th grade daughter crosses that street every single day.  I’m asking you to consider action steps to increase the safety of this school zone for our children.  It’s not if/when someone will get hurt, someone HAS been hurt.  

Please considering taking immediate action to make this area safer for our kids!
