Chair Prizzia and Commissioners,
Please confirm the date in March when the Newberry slaughterhouse will be placed on the agenda for community stakeholder input.
I expect the issue will be scheduled in the evening for greater convenience and citizen
input.
There has been very limited community knowledge of this BOCC project, and an actual attempt by members of the BOCC to limit further the public opportunity to provide input. The “survey” noted in the white paper and used as a basis for the critical need for a slaughter house in Alachua County, was based on a very select and limited number of “ stake holders”. Not the Alachua county community.
The fact this project has been primarily one commissioners target project and the public input is on the back end, is just incorrect. This reeks of a back room deal.
What is the County’s plan to reach out to the community to encourage and engage the public which you so honorably serve?
Tamara Robbins
