Good day Chair Wheeler,
My name is Tyler Williams and I live on the corner of County Road 2054 and NW 234th Street. I’m contacting you as my representative in District 2. Perhaps you are familiar with this corner due to the fact that whenever there is a decent rain the road floods, see picture below. This corner turns to mud and nothing is able to grow in this area that could possibly help with the aforementioned drainage issues because people are constantly driving through it to go “mudding”. I have an issue with this area being torn up, the water drainage issue, and that the vast majority of the people are “mudding” have loud exhausts and pass by between 7pm and 1am. I’ve been in contact with the County Public Works about this issue along with the Sheriffs Office, however both say there is not anything that can really be done to prevent or discourage people from doing this. I’m hoping by appealing to you that a resolution will come about. My family is tired of being woke up with people “mudding” through over and over again throughout the night as well as the water issue and the aesthetic deterioration. Alachua County Public Works has dug a ditch along CR 2054 to help with drainage, however it has not been much of a help due to being unable or unwilling to do anything to maintain it. I feel that the County needs to properly maintain this, especially since they have dug a ditch and have not performed any maintenance. There’s not much I can do to maintain it even though this destruction seems like it continues onto my property, because of the amount of people “mudding”. I’ve included a few pictures of the road flooding as well as the tracks from people “mudding”.
