Good afternoon Mr. Sexton.

With regard to phone in general public comments, have you considered purchasing a high quality answering machine, assigning a phone number for call ins (perhaps a phone that is not used often or where there is a current vacancy), leaving a message about needing name, phone call being a public record, and not to leave any messages containing profanity, etc.?

This line would be accessible to the public the day before the meeting from noon until 2:00 p.m. Then, that afternoon, someone in your office, including possibly a student intern, could listen to the messages and delete any that did not meet the criteria. Whereupon, during the actual meeting, the recordings could be played in front of the microphone for all to hear and for the BoCC to provide general comments if desired.
