Good morning Chair Prizzia and Commissioners,
During yesterday’s meeting, and specifically prior to the vote on the slaughterhouse/meat processing plant, Chair Prizzia requested the $2.5million of ARPA funds be retained and earmarked to be spent on food security projects.
I don’t disagree with the condition of food insecurity, however I have yet to fully understand the meaning of and what successful results of projects adopted to address it look like. Are the results measurable and long lasting?
I am suggesting a complete inventory of all ARPA funded projects, along with other funded food related projects, and a report given in a Special BOCC meeting, prior to any further funds allocated and/or spent on this social issue.
There are many circumstances which contribute to food insecurity. Having a holistic approach to the community needs is the only way to have successful long lasting results.
