>           I would like to persuade you to help us to  restore the West End Golf Course as a green recreational space! It’s a perfect location for a variety of sports-including, but not limited to golf,  swimming, walking, riding, hiking ,yoga,  anpossibly other recreational activities.

> First,  a Greenspace/ golfcourse  holds the key for building friendships across the community . It’s a multigenerationall sport and a universal sport.  Many golfers start playing when they are very young, and continue playing the game well into their eighties and nineties.My first neighbor hit a hole in one on his 90 Th birthday!  We have watched many others in his peer group continue playing into their golden years.

> At the other end of the age spectrum , we have enjoyed seeing very young children taking lessons on the golf course. At the other end of the age spectrum,  high school golfers voiced their sadness when the West End  course closed .

>           Secondly, the Realtor associations indicate that the successful smart growth communities benefit from proximity to Greenspace/ golf courses.  Property values rise in the neighborhoods which surround the recreational area. Most of the people in  adjoinining neighborhoods in the urban area need to be able to walk to a green area within 10 minutes and this course can be both.  The City has many parks. It would be equitable to restore the golfcourse/ Greenspace in the  western end of the unincorporated part of the County.
>            Thirdly, we would like to incorporate a Senior Citizen / Youth Center and program activities which reach out to everyone. We can provide a multicultural, multigenerational center for physical exercise, social activities, and learning activities from gardening to other interests which people express  an interest in learning. The natural outdoors is a beautiful place for exercise as well as art and music.  The possibilities are endless.
>           I hope you understand my rationale for protecting  and revitalizing the Greenspace/ golfcourse  at West End.  First,  the game of golf is a social, wonderful sport which can foster friendships in our communities. It’s open to all ages and abilities . We need a Greenspace on the West end of the County  for beauty and property values is the second reason. Thirdly, we will provide healthy learning and exercise programs for everyone. In summary, Revitalizing the West End golf course is strategic planning for longevity, friendships, health, sustainability, and the well being of ourselves. Believe in the dream.
