I am writing to express my concern about the new proposal for the West End Golf Course property. Changing the zoning of this property to accommodate the developer would be a disservice to the surrounding communities and the county at large. The developer bought this property knowing that is was zoned for recreational purposes. If he wanted to put in a housing development he should have bought property that was zoned residential. When the property was put up for sale, I was assured by one of the staff in the zoning office that it could not be developed due to the recreational status of the property.

Please stand up for the citizens and keep the zoning recreational. I am a long term resident of Alachua County and too many times I have seen the wants of developers put before those of the citizens.
