This is story appreared in the Alachua Chronicle on May 15, 2024.
"Today the Florida Department of Children and Families sent a letter to Florida’s Congressional Delegation, warning that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating under the guidance of the Office of Refugee Resettlement are knowingly placing children in unsafe, unvetted settings and, even worse, are explicitly prohibited from reporting concerns to law enforcement. Recent reporting also shows that these NGOs are potentially making billions off of the unchecked flow of vulnerable children."

Y'all must be feeling very January 6 since you want a do over on the single member district.  Over 51% of the people who bothered to vote, voted for single member districts. Guess they actually cared.
Did you actually mean to imply that voters are too stupid to understand what the change would mean?  Oh, yes, you did.
I completely understood the implications; we have a real possibility of taking away the commission's rubber stamp for every hairbrained liberal idea that comes down the pike.
No taxation without representation.

I hope none of you ever run for reelection because if you win then I will
call for a new vote on the pretense that people did not understand who they
were really voting for.

You think if in 2016 the Republicans would have said that Biden won, but
people might have made a mistake so let's vote again that would have gone
over well?

Dear Mayor Ward and City Commissioners:

others of his ilk would simply fade away, but that is not the case. Now he
is working behind the scenes to further his illegal scheme to turn our
beloved small town into a "sanctuary city" flooded

As a resident and taxpayer of Alachua County I reject this plan to accept federal money for resettlement of refugees in this county.
The federal government continues to loosely define who is a refugee and fails to verify who is allowed to enter our nation.
This plan would place our most vulnerable law abiding citizens at risk for their access to education, health resources, and safety in our communities.
I vote NO TO POE!

busy, but I hope you will consider contributing to our research by answering a
short survey. Given your insight and experience, your participation will be

Good morning Mr. Donahey,

I appreciate your approach yesterday and the conversation regarding the BOCC meeting minutes of 2-27-2024.

As I expect the minutes will be corrected to include the written information I provided during the 2-27-24 meeting and a notation of the direction given by the BOCC to the legal department which resulted in a memo dated March 15, 2024 written by David Forziano, Assistant County Attorney.

Good morning Commissioners,

The included email communication further explains the issue of the contract information unavailability to the public, without the need for a public records request.

As you will learn this discussion with Mr. Donahey began in December of 2023.
I had an in person conversation with Mr. Donahey yesterday, May 14, 2024, during the break of the BOCC meeting. He reiterated the fact that Jim Rouse the County contract coordinator and the Procurement Manager of the BOCC, both had solutions to make this information readily available to the public. However, six months later nothing has been accomplished.

Which in turn supports the Dept of Defense & some foreign aid to some sketchy countries?
And also unclear as to what funds are being invested? Pension? Liquid assets prior to spending?

A camping-ban law in Florida, developed through the work of a Texas-based think tank, will force cities to break up settlements such as this one in Orlando.
BY RYAN GILLESPIE
ORLANDO SENTINEL
The critical elements of Florida’s bold new statewide homelessness policy emerged from the written prescriptions of a Texas-based conservative think tank bent on thwarting the nation’s “homeless-industrial complex,” according to records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

Please move the proposed Public Records Policy from the Consent Agenda to
the main agenda.

1) Please consider a policy that all public records created in electronic

The purpose of this system would be to reduce staff time responding to

Dear Commissioners,

Please explain to me why and how Wild Spaces and Public Places funds were
used to pave SW 24th Ave almost the entire length from SW 122nd St. to SW
91st Street.

There are many roads within the county that have potholes too numerous to
count and yet SW 24th was paved. I understand paving the area just around
the new fire station, but the length that was paved. This action has the
appearance that persons who live in the neighborhoods along the described
area of SW 24th St. have more influence including those in Oakmont.

Dear Commissioners,

By now, in retrospect, it is obvious that our county's at-large voting
system was wrongly overturned through deceit. Voters were bamboozled by the
use of outright lies, disinformation and dark money from outside the
county.

I am asking you to please put a referendum to restore the traditional
system on the ballot. I recently broke my shoulder and cannot attend
tomorrow's meeting, but I wanted you to know where I stand on this issue.

Commissioners,

As an addendum to the information included in the 5/13 MTPO agenda (Consent item CA.5), City and County transportation planning staff jointly developed the attached memo. The primary intent of the memo is to include more detail on the staffing arrangements of peer communities for which the Board requested information during the 4/1 MTPO meeting.

Commissioner Wheeler,

Mr. Gracy asked that I forward this letter from Alachua County mandating that we use GFL as our waste provider.

We did not sign a contract with GFL and would like to go back to our previous provider, Waste Pro.

This "mandate" has resulted in our monthly rate being increased by 241%.

After reading an article today in local 7 on bringing migrants to Alachua,
I m super concerned about the prospects of bringing crisis migrants to Alachua County as our budgets are already stressed and we have a homeless crisis in our area that we are also trying to support. Our taxes are already the second highest mileage rate in the State of Florida and this is an extremely concerning prospect. I do not see this item on the agenda currently and work 8-5 so I m unable to attend in person. Please vote no.

Good evening, Commissioners

I was recently informed that the Kresh Group, tasked by Alachua county to
perform a study of the 700+ miles of road in our county missed the last
mile or so of SW 75th ST was not included in their report and is not slated
for any furture projects per the County's online website through 2040 as a
result. I'm sure this was accidental given the scope of the project and the
fact that the section of roadway was listed #26 on the 2008 Alachua County
Paved Roads Priority list. A local community group, KRASH, brought these

Without their unwavering support and that of all our volunteers, we wouldn't be where we are today. Our amazing volunteer board generously donates their time and skills

I am writing to express my strong support for the bipartisan effort to halt the expansion of facial recognition technology at airports in the United States, as outlined in the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill. Senators Jeff Merkley and John Kennedy's proposal to restrict the use of this technology until 2027 (even better, require explicit Congressional authorization to proceed), and to ensure that passengers have the hassle-free option to opt out where it is in use, is a critical step in protecting the privacy rights of Americans.

Hello Ms. Daniels,

This dancing inflatable sign (attached) is located at the La Fiesta restaurant on the SE corner of I-75 & 39th Ave. Please enforce the code regarding this illegal device.
Also, an illegal “feather flag” and assorted ground signs remain at 3710 NW 51st St. Has the responsible party ignored a warning or citation in this case? The offense is ongoing, as your records should indicate.

I know you have asked your staff to be alert and

A novel homeless strategy goes on Arizona’s ballot

The measure would give property owners tax refunds for damage caused by encampments if cities fail to enforce laws

Good evening Commissioners,

I just wanted to thank you for the support and concern that you expressed
today for the staff at the Supervisor of Elections office.

When it comes to holding early voting on the last Sunday before the
November election, I believe it would be a valuable investment for Alachua
County voters that would allow for more of our citizens to make their
voices heard in this critical time. I appreciate your willingness to
support our SOE through that effort, along with the additon of an early
voting location at Santa Fe College.

Hello Marihelen

I wanted to follow up to see if you have had a chance to review the information I sent concerning TVEyes, and how it might compare to how you are currently tracking for broadcast media coverage.

Basically, with a TVEyes account, you would have 24/7 access to all of your broadcast news coverage, can track for unlimited watch terms, and archive unlimited clips.

I did not ask for this fiber optic cable and I am not an ATT subscriber.
Blue Streak eventually came out to fix the pipe but the landscaping was
never done correctly. I eventually

There is a large banner in front of the house across from Jack's Small Engine Repair just west of the town of Alachua. It's reads: TRUMP 2024 NO MORE BULLSHIT! Citizens of this area and their children should not be exposed to that for the next 6 months. Politics aside ,this large banner crosses the line of simple decency. It should be removed. Thank you.
