Hi Guys: I have an odd question. Do either of you know of anyone (local lawyer maybe?) who wears shirts with French cuffs? We're moving and downsizing and I have a nice collection of about 25 sets of cuff links of all shapes and sizes and origins. I could give them to Haven Hospice and might end up doing just that, but I'm not sure that's the best place to offer a cuff link collection. This would be a donation to anyone that could use them -- I'm not looking for payment. Thanks, Bob Palmer

Commissioners, At today's commission meeting during my presentation, Commissioner Prizzia requested information regarding Vote-by-Mail requests. I have included that information along with the numbers from 2020 and 2022 below:
Because 2020 was such an outlier for vote-by-mail (pandemic related issues), we have averaged the volume of 2022 requests with the average of 2020 requests to get an "expected baseline" for what we expect for 2024.
PLEASE NOTE: Florida has a very broad public records law (F.S.119). All e-mails to and from County Officials and County Staff are kept as public records. Your e-mail communications, including your e-mail address, may be disclosed to the public and media at any time.

At today's meeting, Commissioner Prizzia requested data on our vote-by-mail renewal progress compared to 2022:
For the 2022 General election we had 50.3K VBM requests. 31.4K (62%) of those ballots got returned.
For the 2024 General election we have 25.8K VBM requests currently on file which is just over 51% of the 2022 total requests. 23.5K (91%) of these voters also had a VBM request in 2022.

I received an email from Cedar Business Services about a debt with you. I've never received this before and I moved out of Gainesville years ago. I tried to check in their website and just wanted to know if it's a scam (it's a $410.78 bill). There's also an error with the name and the zip code, so I just wanted to check, if there is a bill, let me know how I can pay directly.
Thank you for your email, which I will share with our Finance & Accounting department to see if we utilize Cedar Business Services as a debt collector for the County. I will be in touch again shortly.

The result is that it has been dug down and into the foundation. A

At the general meeting April 2, the Comission motioned to add a referendum to the ballot about the single-member voting districts and at-large voting districts. I'm writing a story about this motion.
I have a few questions about the referendum and how this change will affect the upcoming election. Please let me know If you are available sometime today or tomorrow for a phone call.
Please give me a call and I will coordinate the County’s response.

Joe Petrelli of Demotech Responds to Controversial Report The Florida Insurance Roundup podcast April 22, 2024 Talk To Us Before You Talk To Anyone When Insurers Exit on The Florida Insurance Roundup podcast Good Morning Charles! A new report claims that Florida's property insurance market is full of “low quality insurers,” especially those Florida-based companies that write the bulk of the 7.5 million homeowners and condo insurance policies. It casts aspersions on Demotech, the rating agency that reviews their financial stability. Former Florida Deputy Insurance Commissioner Lisa Miller sat down with Demotech President Joe Petrelli to get the

Dear Director Gavarrete, Chairman Alford & fellow Commissioners,
I am writing on behalf of the Kanapaha Residents AgainstSafety Hazards (KRASH) to express our urgent concerns about these issues:
(1) the dangerous condition of approximately one mile of SW 75thStreet, (2) arguable results of the recent pavement assessment as presented in TheKercher Group’s 2021 report, and (3) apparent disparities or inequities within Alachua County's current PavementManagement System (PMS) program.
Please prepare a response for this citizen group and let’s talk about this again when you have some time. I recently went down this road at the same time as school buses and it’s scary. If you haven’t had your team look at it lately I think it’s worth checking out. This road seems to have been constructed under different standards than other similar roads and that may be causing faster degradation.

*St. Augustine, Fla. - *Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signs Senate Bill 184, which will take effect on January 1, 2025.
This new law prohibits "the harassment of a police officer or first responder who is actively doing his or her job." I am writing to you to ask you to support the creation of 3 pickleball courts at Jonesville. As someone who voted for Wild Spaces and Public Places I think funding this initiative is fair and appropriate and a responsible use of the money raised through the sales tax. I urge you to support this project. Thanks in advance for your consideration.
