Dear Commissioner Prizzia, Thank you for your leadership in our community. The 23.6 acre farm that I own with my husband in Alachua is in transition. This is not something I want, but it is a necessary change I wish to steward. Given proximity to the Santa Fe River, I nominated the property for conservation. Mike Nelson will present the property to the Land Conservation Board at the Thursday, May 23, 5:30PM meeting.

Not every crime scene has definitive evidence for investigators to collect and analyze. In these cases, searching for traces of evidence — like gunshot residue — can be the key to linking an individual to a crime.
In this new "Justice Today "episode, NIJ graduate research fellow Dr. Shelby Khandasammy shares insights from her innovative research that analyzes organic gunshot residue to distinguish between different firearms calibers and manufacturers.
This was taken around 8pm in front of Panera/ Hobby Lobby located on Newberry Road. These people are regulars that have set up to live in this area. I see the same people and have for a long time panhandling and leaving trash along Newberry Road. They also sit in the median and weave through traffic. This behavior is unsafe for them and also extremely unsafe for our drivers. On my way home from work tonight I had a panhandler cross when he did not have the ride if way or designated safe to cross light.

PHOENIX — From their modest apartment buildings alongside a block-long strip of gravel and scrub grass, the residents can see the tents and tarps and empty Mountain Dew bottles, hear the late-night fights and occasional gunshots, and smell the stringent, slightly sweet odor of burning fentanyl. “It brings the value of the properties down,” said Shawn Matthews, a 46-year-old medical services driver who lives in one of the buildings.
I just wanted to thank you for the support and concern that you expressed today for the staff at the Supervisor of Elections office.
When it comes to holding early voting on the last Sunday before the November election, I believe it would be a valuable investment for Alachua County voters that would allow for more of our citizens to make their voices heard in this critical time. I appreciate your willingness to support our SOE through that effort, along with the additon of an early voting location at Santa Fe College.

I saw this and thought it might be a great grant to help with the work you both are doing to build a team that will addresses substance abuse. It could also help with some of the other projects that were mentioned last night at the joint meeting with the children's trust, like the family centers....

I share your frustrations with the current contractors working for several Fiber Communication companies. The County inspectors have been tasked to closely monitor all the contractors performing this kind of work for the fiber optics communication companies. Last week, Sigma Underground, LLC, subcontracted by Hutchins Telecom Solutions, LLC/B&M Underground, LLC, was prohibited from working within the Alachua County jurisdiction and was to terminate all work immediately. With the pressure of multiple businesses closing rapidly in downtown and around Gainesville, we are fighting to keep How Bazar open. We haven't been able to get our rent waived, but we're at least going to ask for rent relief through the summer.
Do you have a moment to look over this rent relief request that I plan to send the city? I've attached the document.

I wanted to pass on this grant opportunity to the team involved in Gun Violence Prevention. I am sorry I don’t have Brittany’s email but please share this with her too! This could possibly help to fund the One Nation One Project continuation or other efforts to work with youth, the arts and violence prevention! It is a short turn around, but perhaps since we have things already underway it would not be hard to pull a proposal together.

I have expressed my concerns with the apartment complex that I currently live in, Gardenview Villas, regarding our city lights not working. I have filed a report regarding the city lights on the City of Gainesville website. However, I would like to include you on my situation as a woman of color. I do not feel safe and I was dismissed when I told the property manager my concerns regarding my safety. She told me to “just call the cops next time.”

I'll check out the property once it's dark tonight as a first step. I believe owners are responsible for lights within their property, so I need to figure out who residents need to lean on to resolve this. I'll reach out to Ira after I scope it out.
Regardless of what happens with the lights, the property manager's dismissiveness is cause for concern and indicates there may be other issues residents should organize to address. Has Ira reported any other issues to you?

I have been attending the Citizen’s Academy and live in Haile. I have a direct interest in and am concerned about Tallahassee’s recent “gift” to UF of some 60 million dollars for what is known as the Hickory Sink or Lee Property project (4000+ acres) and how the tax-rolls are depleted by this gift. The last I heard UF was contemplating a private 36 hole golf course with 50 or so luxury “cabins” and a posh “club house" which would cost 50 to 100 thousand to “join”. That land and development would be untaxed and would serve no legimate “educational”

Determining the age-at-death of subadult remains is a challenging task for forensic investigators, despite decades of research in the field.
To meet this challenge, a collaborative team of NIJ-supported anthropology researchers developed a tool that enables more precise age estimations using developmental dental data. This user-friendly tool helps forensic practitioners more accurately estimate age-at-death based on large and demographically diverse subadult samples that capture the variation in dental development.

The updated list of dates are below: 8-hour trainings: April 25- University of West Florida May 9- Florida International University May 17- University of West Florida
Could we possibly reschedule our June 7 meeting to June 6 or June 10?
Thanks!!
